Lake Anna Extended Family Portraits
Photographing families is always special, but this one was extra close to my heart — my childhood best friend’s family vacation at Lake Anna, Virginia. Early fall gave us perfect weather: crisp air, golden light, and the peaceful shimmer of the water as our backdrop.
Their rental home sat on a steep hill that led down to the tiniest dock on the lake. It wasn’t the easiest spot to work with, but sometimes the most challenging locations end up giving us the most unique photos. With everyone gathered close together, the session felt cozy and connected — exactly what you’d want for capturing extended family memories.
What I love most about this evening is how the images reflect real life: a family making the most of their time together in such a beautiful setting. From the glowing clouds reflecting on the water to the warmth between parents, grandparents, and kids, every moment was full of love.
Lake Anna gave us a little bit of everything — gorgeous scenery, a touch of challenge, and a whole lot of joy. And now, this sweet family has photographs that will always bring them back to their vacation by the lake.
